Join us for PORTALS ON THE OASIS, an art happening on the Pacific Coast of Baja California, with otherworldly flora, fauna, and open space and attitudes prime for creative experimentation.
A stellar lineup of artists, chefs, farmers, DJs, poets, scientists, and astronomers will be presenting works and performances in dreamy locations around the town, including at our headquarters Castillo de Dracula.
We will dine by candlelight at inspired estates, stargaze by the ocean, tour around on a magic bus, play Portal Ball, a new sport of transcendence, dance, surf, swim, and explore together.
Our most interesting friends, and some of their friends, will be there –both local and international- and we hope to see you there too.
The Happening is engineered as an immersive, participatory experience. You are an artist too which is what makes this event particularly delightful and different from an art fair, a festival, or a party.
General Program
Weds Feb 22 / evening: welcome cocktails at the architectural award winning Casa Santos followed by dinner in the town center.
Thurs Feb 23 / afternoon: surrealist drawing class @ Castillo de Dracula /// evening: enchanted 5-course dinner experience created by chef Ernesto Kut at Casa Melina, a restored historical building that is his house and culinary residency program. A portal between eras, Ernesto is dedicated to rediscovering the lost knowledge of the First Nations of Baja (Pericues and Guaycuras) and to work with local ingredients from the desert, sea, and oasis farmlands.
Fri Feb 24 / afternoon: Magic Bus portal tour: a bus journey to the unexpected. /// Cosmic Sonica stargazing evening co-hosted with Zach Bell at the Deep End, an empty swimming pool in a palm groove by the Pacific Ocean. The soundscape is by the psychedelic band Daturas, with occasional outbursts of poetry, and a star meditation and galaxy tour led by Princeton astrophysicist Matteo Cantiello.
Sat Feb 25/ 5pm-2am art and surprises at Castillo de Dracula including the Portal Ball tournament, a new sport of transcendence created by Julia Chaplin and SETI Institute artist Charles Lindsay / Arbolscape - a sound and dance installation by producer/artist Andres Levin and Martine Bury/ Farm to table Mexican dinner by Chef extraordinaire Enrique Silva (founder of Tamarindos restaurant in San Jose Del Cabo) / Pinatalandia by Alex Miller/ DJ dance party in the solarium by Jaime Fiorito (Ibiza Heritage Project)
